2025 Porsche Taycan With More Power, Longer Range & Faster Charging

Performance was never a problem with the Porsche Taycan. After all, it is a Porsche. The German automaker’s first all-electric vehicle doesn’t disappoint with its range, either. Granted, it was always positioned as a performance car first and foremost, and even a model like the 911 Turbo S couldn’t get amazing fuel economy. But Porsche says many of it’s more than 150,000 Taycan customers by now want to go further and take less time to charge, so engineers hope to achieve that with extensive updates for the 2025 Porsche Taycan year.

So, let’s meet the 2025 Porsche Taycan, which brings significant upgrades to the entire lineup in terms of range, charging time, efficiency, and performance.

2025 Porsche Taycan Price

The prices of new cars have also increased. The entry-level rear-drive Taycan is now priced at US$101,395 (note from IT House: currently about 731,000 yuan), the Taycan 4S is priced at US$120,495 (currently about 869,000 yuan), and the Taycan Turbo is priced at 175,595 US dollars.

In US dollars (currently about 1.266 million yuan), the Taycan Turbo S is priced at US$210,995 (currently about 1.521 million yuan), and the cheapest is the Taycan 4 Cross Turismo at US$113,095 (currently about 815,000 yuan). The new car will start in the summer. deliver.

2025 Porsche Taycan Exterior

In terms of appearance, the new 2025 Porsche Taycan has not changed much, mainly including new LED headlights and improved front fenders.

The high-end version will have a new light strip running through the rear of the car with a glowing red “PORSCHE” logo printed on it. Low-end models can also be purchased as an option for a fee. The Turbo S will include ornamental vents on both sides of the rear bumper, designed to enhance aerodynamics, although they do not serve a cooling function.

2025 Porsche Taycan Range, Charging, and Battery Life

All versions of 2025 Porsche Taycan will be equipped with new batteries. The battery capacity of the standard version has been increased to 83.6kWh. The optional high-performance battery pack is optional on the Taycan and 4S models, and is standard on the Turbo model, with the capacity increased to 97.0kWh. The new battery uses a chemical formula with a higher nickel content, which significantly increases the capacity while maintaining the same size as the old model.

Thanks to this, the new high-performance battery pack is approximately 9 kilograms lighter than the old model. Although the configuration of the new car has been improved, about 15 kilograms has reduced the curb weight of Turbo S.

The charging speed has also been improved, with a peak power of up to 320 kilowatts, provided it is connected to a powerful enough 800-volt DC fast charging station. Rapid charging remains feasible even in the presence of lower temperatures affecting the battery. The new car will also be equipped with a 150-kilowatt DC/DC converter as standard to further increase the charging speed under the 400-volt network.

Thanks to improved powertrain efficiency and larger-capacity batteries, the new car’s cruising range has also been improved. In accordance with European WLTP standards, the rear-wheel drive Taycan with a high-performance battery pack has a maximum cruising range of up to 677 kilometers, an increase of 174 kilometers compared to the old model; the Turbo S’s cruising range has been increased from 467 kilometers to 631 kilometers.

2025 Porsche Taycan EV Motor, Power, and Performance

Another major hardware change in the new 2025 Porsche Taycan car is the use of a new rear motor, which is lighter and more powerful than before. It still uses a two-speed gearbox design to improve efficiency at high speeds. Peak power for rear-drive models remains at 402 horsepower, but ejection mode is no longer required to gain full power. Porsche estimates a 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds, 0.6 seconds faster than the old rear-wheel-drive version.

Turbo S gets a boost in power, but it requires the driver to unlock it gradually. The base output of the two motors is increased to 764 horsepower, and the Sport Chrono package’s new “Overdrive” function can release an additional 93 horsepower in 10 seconds, activated through a button on the steering wheel drive mode selector. Ejection mode can further release power, with peak power increased to 938 horsepower and peak torque reaching 1100 Nm (the corresponding figures of the old Turbo S are 750 horsepower and 1050 Nm).

Besides the base model and Turbo S, Taycan 4S and Taycan Turbo will also continue to be available, and the specific parameters have not been announced yet. Both the 2025 Porsche Taycan sedan and Cross Turismo wagon will be offered in the U.S., but the latter won’t be available in rear-wheel drive.

Other hardware upgrades include air suspension and adaptive dampers standard on all versions. An anti-roll bar system continues to be optional, but a new electron-hydraulic Active Ride system replaces the 48-volt electrical system. Besides suppressing roll, the system can also compensate for pitch and nod during acceleration and braking. And provide a so-called “corner tilt” function that allows the 2025 Porsche Taycan to slightly lean the body when cornering (similar functions have appeared on some Mercedes-Benz models). Unfortunately, the new 2025 Porsche Taycan still does not have a single-pedal driving mode, which Porsche believes will affect the purity of the driving experience.

2025 Porsche Taycan Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

The interior of the new 2025 Porsche Taycan comes standard with leather, but Porsche also offers two leather-free options, which are black and black plus slate gray. The materials use Race-Tex microfiber material and wool-containing textiles to present a unique Pepita hounds tooth check. This option is free on Turbo models, but optional on base and 4S models. The new model also comes with GT silver contrast stitching and seat belts.

Other important changes include updated user interfaces for the instrument cluster, central infotainment system and passenger display (optional). A new mode switch button on the steering wheel on all models, and a new mode switch on the Sport Chrono package and On Performance Battery Pack Plus models. There is also a push overtaking button on the steering wheel.

More features are added as standard, such as a cooled wireless charging pad, a heated steering wheel, lane change assist, ambient lighting and Porsche Intelligent Range Management.

2025 Porsche Taycan Infotainment and Connectivity

The digital instrument panel has also been redesigned and now not only provides basic vehicle information but also displays the maximum charging speed prediction based on the current battery condition, providing the driver with more detailed information. In terms of user interface, the introduction of the new generation of Apple CarPlay+ further enhances Taycan’s connectivity and entertainment performance. Drivers can control functions such as air conditioning through the system. For drivers using Porsche’s own navigation system, the system can also plan detailed routes around charging stations and target battery levels, making driving more intelligent and convenient. Although the interior changes are relatively minor, these details demonstrate Porsche’s relentless pursuit of user experience.

2025 Porsche Taycan Driver-Assistance Features

Control of the driver assistance systems is even more intuitive using a new lever on the left side of the steering wheel. Apple Car play has been more seamlessly integrated into the vehicle’s display and functionality. The introduction of a new in-car video feature allows for video streaming on both the center display and the passenger display.
