Genesis‘ latest approach to electrification is adding EV powertrains to its existing lineup of excellent luxury vehicles. One result is this 2024 Genesis Electrified G80—a silly name, we agree—that retains everything we love about the regular G80 sedan, plus a 365-hp dual-motor powertrain and a battery pack big enough for up to 282 miles of driving per hour. The charge seems smart to us, which is why we put it on our 2024 Editors’ Choice list. Not only do you get an EV with a competitive driving range, you get to enjoy the unique luxury of the Genesis brand.
The interior of the G80 is luxuriously appointed, providing a delightful environment for spending time. Behind the wheel, the 2024 Genesis Electrified G80 impresses with its combination of powerful acceleration and confident handling. The only difference you might notice–other than the lack of a combustion engine rolling under the hood–is the slightly reduced interior volume compared to the 2024 Genesis Electrified G80. This was needed to make room for the Electrified’s battery pack.
For its second year on the market, the 2024 Genesis Electrified G80 sedan has made no changes. It is a classy and mild luxury car with a competitive EV powertrain.
Prices for the 2024 Genesis Electrified G80 start at $75,625 and go up to $80,320 depending on trim and options.
In terms of appearance, the new car has a very high degree of recognition. With the blessing of the closed front grille, the vehicle’s sci-fi attributes have been further improved. At the same time, the LED light strip equipped with the grille shows a pretty good effect when lit. It has a sense of the future and has strong characteristics of new energy vehicles.
It is worth mentioning that the new car is equipped with a new style of “big pie” rims, which has an outstanding visual effect and well highlights the positioning of the vehicle. At the rear of the car, the new car is equipped with parallel-distributed taillights, and the slightly raised duck tail design gives the car some sporty attributes.
In terms of interior, the new car is highly consistent with the fuel version, and the overall appearance has undergone significant changes compared with the old model. It can be seen that with the support of the new dual-screen design, the sense of technology in the car has been significantly improved. In addition, the new style of multi-function steering wheel is also more concise, which goes well with this new central control layout.
In terms of power, The current model boasts dual motors delivering a maximum power output of 272 kW (equivalent to 370 horsepower) and a peak torque of 700 N·m. Paired with an 87.2 kWh ternary lithium battery, it achieves a CLTC cruising range of 625 km.
Sandwiched under the floorboards of the electrified G80 is an 87.2-kWh battery pack good for an estimated 282 miles of range per charge.During our 75-mph highway fuel-economy test, we noted an impressive range of 280 miles. We tested Genesis’ claim that the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in about 22 minutes when connected to a 350-kilowatt DC fast-charger and were pleased with the results. Charging time increases to seven hours when the vehicle is plugged into a Level 2 outlet.
