Overview

Ford Motor Company recently released a set of official images of the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning Switchgear concept car, showing the unique charm of this pure electric pickup truck. The car will be officially unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, USA on January 25, 2024, and is expected to be put on the market in the second half of 2024. It is reported that the vehicle is based on the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning model, but it has more powerful off-road performance and more flexible driving modes, which can cope with different road conditions and needs. It is a true two-sided pickup truck.

2024 Ford F-150 Lightning Price

Ford has made price adjustments for the entire range of 2024 F-150 Lightning electric pickup trucks. Ford notified its dealers on Wednesday that the starting price of entry-level models will increase by up to $10,000, while some high-end models will see price cuts off up to $7,000. The price increase comes on the heels of Ford’s December announcement of plans to cut production of the F-150 Lightning.

Specifically, the starting prices of each model of the 2024 F-150 Lightning are as follows:

• Pro: raised from $49,995 to $54,995
• XLT 311 A: $54,995 to $64,995
• Flash: New “tech-forward” configuration, $73,495
• Lariat: slight increase from $77,495 to $79,495
• Platinum: reduced from $91,995 to $84,995
• Platinum Black: reduced from $97,995 to $92,995

It should be noted that the XLT 312 A and 240-mile range Lariat configurations have been canceled for the 2024 model year. Prices above do not include shipping and destination charges of up to $2,095.

A Ford spokesman said the price increase is designed to optimize “volume growth, profitability, and customers’ opportunity to take advantage of IRA tax benefits.” The two Platinum versions of the F-150 trucks are the only models to receive a price cut in this price adjustment. They are also the only models in the lineup that are not eligible for the $7,500 federal tax credit.

In terms of appearance, the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning Switchgear concept car uses an exclusive blue paint with a small amount of red flowers to create a sense of sportiness and power. The car is also equipped with a 131 kWh battery pack, which can provide sufficient cruising range and power output. According to Ford officials, the car’s 0-96 km/h acceleration time is 4.5 seconds, its cruising range is about 515 kilometers, and its charging speed is also very fast, able to charge 80% of the battery in 15 minutes. The vehicle also supports V2H (vehicle-to-home) and V2G (vehicle-to-grid) functions, which can output the vehicle’s power to homes or power grids to achieve energy interconnection and optimization.

Lithium battery packs power 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning with a capacity of 98 kWh and a capacity of 131 kWh depending on the model. The former can have a cruising range of 370 kilometers, while the latter can run a cruising range of up to 515 kilometers.

The Flash model added in the new year is equipped with a 131 kWh capacity lithium battery pack and is priced at a median price of 2.18 million, which will make more consumers inclined to buy this high-CP value model.

2024 Ford F-150 Lightning Driver-Assistance Features

New features for all 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning include automatic locking when exiting the car with the key, and the updated Blue Cruise 1.2 driver assistance system. The optional ProPower onboard generator now automatically kicks in when the vehicle is unlocked, meaning drivers can start the truck before inserting the key. Ford said the upgrades will be available as software updates for existing 2022 and 2023 Lightning vehicles.
