2025 Polestar 3 EV SUV Price, Design, Spec & Release Date

Overview

With a handsome design and the requisite high-riding seating position, the 2025 Polestar 3 joins the flood of electric SUVs flooding the market. Volvo’s spinoff—the EV brand—has only produced cars to date, though the Polestar 2 can be seen as a long car or low-riding SUV. There will be no confusion about the 3, which will go on sale in the second half of 2024. We must confess to being captivated by its sleek roofline, prominent fenders, and striking wheel arches.

The SUV’s cabin also looks rich, with a clean design and high-end materials. Power is considerably higher in the base model, powered by a 483-hp, dual-motor, all-wheel drive Powertrain. For speed freaks, the optional Performance trim boosts that to 510 horsepower and adds unique 22-inch wheels, summer tires and a tweaked suspension system. The standard model boasts a driving range of 315 miles per charge, while the Performance variant offers 279 miles per charge.

Both versions can be rapidly charged using a DC fast charging connection. It’s equipped with an array of active safety features, and the Polestar has plans for future improvements that include Volvo’s LIDAR technology, which will enable full self-driving in the future. The company is also in the works of developing a second SUV named the Polestar 4, envisioned as a fastback-body variant derived from the 3 model.

What’s New For 2025 Polestar 3?

The2025 Polestar 3 is the third entry in Polestar’s gradually expanding lineup and the brand’s first SUV model. The 3 will be the first Polestar to be built in America, joining the S60 sedan and the next-gen XC90 SUV at Volvo’s new plant in South Carolina.

2025 Polestar 3 Price

Prices for the 2025 Polestar 3 start at $74,800 and go up to $80,800 depending on trim and options.

2025 Polestar 3 EV Motor, Power And Performance

A dual-motor powertrain is standard on the 2025 Polestar 3, but is offered in two strengths. The base setup makes 483 horsepower but the Performance trim is bumped to 510 ponies. Polestar says the powertrain is rear-biased, though all-wheel drive is standard. We could drive prototypes of both versions at Volvo and Polestar’s proving grounds in Sweden, and were happy to report that both delivered brisk acceleration.

Each will come with an adaptive suspension system with 3 active dampers and air springs, while the Performance Package includes a sport-tuned version of the suspension. Handling is surprisingly nimble. A torque-vectoring rear differential helps prevent understeer and gives the 2025 Polestar 3 a more planted feel through fast cornering maneuvers. When we get the chance, we’ll take the new 2025 Polestar 3 out to our test track and update this story with test results and more driving impressions.

2025 Polestar 3 Range, Charging And Battery Life

All models come with the same 107.0-kWh battery pack that can charge up to 250 kW on a DC fast charging connection. Polestar says that’s enough to charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent in 30 minutes.

Once fully charged, the Long Range Dual Motor model is said to provide up to 315 miles of driving before needing to be re-juiced; The more powerful Performance model has a slightly lower estimated range of 279 miles per charge.

2025 Polestar 3 Interior, Comfort, And Cargo

Polestar has outfitted its first SUV model with a host of amenities and luxury features. All models come with a panoramic sunroof that carries an illuminated polyester logo. A power rear liftgate is also standard, as are power front seats with heat, a three-zone automatic climate control system and an onboard air purifier.

The interior design is clean and modern, and features high-end materials that Polestar says are environmentally friendly and durable. The optional Plus package adds niceties like a power-adjustable steering wheel with heat and soft-close doors. Cargo space is less generous than other similarly sized SUVs, and the Polestar 3’s front trunk (or Frank) is a disappointing one-cubic-foot cubby that’s only good for storing the SUV’s portable charging cables.

2025 Polestar 3 Infotainment And Connectivity

A large 14.5-inch infotainment display is standard and runs the Polestar’s latest Google-based infotainment interface. A secondary 9.0-inch display serves as the Polestar 3’s gauge cluster. The system is fairly intuitive overall, although the lack of physical buttons will annoy some drivers. We expect to see Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard features, and we know all models will come with in-dash navigation, Bluetooth connectivity and four USB-C charging ports. A 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins stereo system is part of the optional Plus package.
