Every EQS rides on an adaptive air suspension and wheels from 19 to 21 inches.

The standard rear-axle-steering can angle the rear wheels up to 10 degrees. As the 207.3-inch-long EQS is only three inches shorter than a Chevy Tahoe, rear-wheel steering makes the sedan easier to maneuver in tight spaces and improves stability at high speeds. In our testing, we found that the luxury sedan delivered the kind of quiet and silky ride one would expect from an electric Mercedes flagship. It’s not built around town, however, thanks to our test car’s disconnected-feeling brake pedal. When we get a 2024 model for testing, we’ll see if EQS’s all-new braking system solves our problems.

The EQS includes a fingerprint scanner that activates individual driver profiles, the “Hey Mercedes” voice-command system and augmented-reality navigation on the head-up display. Each model has six USB-C ports throughout the cabin and Burmester audio. Mercedes’ MBUX infotainment software runs on standard HyperScreen. Displays include a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, 17.7-inch central touchscreen and 12.3-inch passenger-side touchscreen, all fronted by glass door toppers. Over-the-air (OTA) updates planned for vehicles with Entertainment Package Plus will add features like the YouTube web app and Dolby Atmos surround sound.
