Although it wears the Equinox nameplate, the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV bears little resemblance to that compact SUV. The differences begin with its powertrain, which swaps gasoline power for electrons. The Equinox EV’s exterior styling mixes futuristic touches with more traditional crossover design cues, and it’s pretty cool to look at.
The entry-level front-wheel-drive powertrain, which uses a single electric motor, is strong at 210 ponies. Unlike smaller Bolt EUVs, all-wheel drive is an option on the Equinox EV, and the dual-motor setup boosts power to 290 horsepower. Front-wheel-drive models claim a driving range of up to 319 miles depending on trim level, while opting for all-wheel drive drops that estimate to 285 miles.
The Equinox EV will be an all-new electric model when it joins the Chevrolet lineup in the fall of 2023 as a 2024 model.
Prices for the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV start at $43,295 and go up to $46,795 depending on trim and options.
Let’s take a look at the changes in the Equinox EV version. As a pure electric version, 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV no longer looks like the fuel version of the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV from the inside out. The exterior and interior adopt a new design language. Like the fuel version, the new car is available in two versions: standard version and RS. The RS is the sports version and is equipped with dual motors to provide more powerful power output than the standard version.
The front face adopts a closed front grille, a combination of through-type LED light strips, hidden door handles and other popular pure electric vehicle configurations. Among them, the RS sports version adopts a black and red two-color design. It is also equipped with a blackened air intake grille and an exclusive LOGO, making it full of sporty atmosphere. The changes at the rear are not very obvious. It also adopts a through-type taillight. The style of the taillight is somewhat similar to that of Buick’s newly launched domestic model , and overall it is more coordinated.
In terms of interiors, Chevrolet has finally made progress, and the outdated design of the current model has finally been abandoned. It can be seen that the center console of Chevrolet Equinox EV adopts a continuous dual-LCD screen design. The right side of the steering wheel is equipped with a large-size multimedia LCD touch screen. And is equipped with the latest car system, with air conditioning adjustment and seat Heating and other functions, the center armrest of the new car adopts a suspended shape design, which has good storage space.
The standard version is equipped with a single motor, providing 157 kW, 213 horsepower and 327 Nm of power. The RS version is equipped with dual motors and a four-wheel-drive system, and the power output is increased to 216 kW, 294 horsepower and 469 Nm of torque.
In terms of battery life, which is of greatest concern, the battery has not yet been officially announced, and a variety of battery configurations are expected to be launched. It is known that the officially stated battery life is about 250 miles (402 kilometers) for entry-level batteries, and up to 300 miles (483 kilometers) for high-end batteries. The driving version has a range of 280 miles (451 kilometers).
Every Equinox EV comes with an 11.0-inch digital gauge display for a secondary touchscreen infotainment. On the 1LT model, that infotainment display is 11.0 inches but a larger 17.0-inch screen is optional on the 2LT and 2RS models and standard on the 3LT and 3RS. Chevrolet has yet to release a full list of standard and optional features, but we expect to see wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard across the lineup with uplevel models getting in-dash navigation and an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot.
